Testing Process
Getting your bees tested for Nosema is easy and fast. READ ALL THE INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE STARTING
1) Download, print and fill in the Sample Submission Sheet.
2) Obtain a sample of approximately 50 bees. This about 50 milliliters. Take the sample from the TOP of the brood box or from your brood frames. Be careful not to include the queen!
3) A small plastic container is required for mailing. The bees need to arrive uncrushed and in a container.
4) Place bees quickly in the freezer to euthanized them then leave them in the freezer until ready to post.
5) Post the sample, the Sample Submission Sheet and the fee (se below) to NosemaNZ, Level 1, 237 Golden Hills Road, RD1 Richmond, Nelson 7081. At $3 NZ post bag is EXCELLENT for this. Multiple samples may be included in the same bag. It is important the bees are mailed immediately so they arrive in good condition.
6) Pay the required fee by either, check, cash or direct debit (ASB 12 3165 0349538). Note: testing will not be done until the fee is received.
7) Your results will be emailed to you. We aim to test all samples on the next testing day after payment. Testing days are Wednesdays and Fridays.
